Academy informs leaders about the economic development options available and helps them understand the steps necessary to take advantage of the economic opportunities. It includes:
- A scholarship program that provides matching scholarships, usually 50%, for attending economic development training or education. Anyone directly involved in the development of any part of Northeast Power's service area is eligible.
- Direct delivery of economic development education and training in partnership with others. Some local leaders cannot travel to attend training so Northeast Power arranges for the training to be offered locally
- An ongoing series of efforts to inform members, area residents, elected officials and key leaders about important aspects of economic development. These efforts include articles and "guest columns" in newsletters and newspapers, presentations at civic clubs and community meetings, information posted on Northeast Power's web site and printed materials.
